Boxing and the body

Rotation, guard, breath

In boxing every punch starts from the feet and travels through the hips and the rotation of the trunk, while the shoulders stay up in guard for long periods. The work is intense and comes in intervals, and it asks you to stay clear-headed under pressure and when tired.

The practice is built around your body, your style and your fight camp, in agreement with your coach.

What we work on

A practice built around the ring

  • Rotation of the trunk and pelvisTo punch with the whole body, with more freedom of movement: the work aims not only at stability but at freedom in the joints involved.
  • Shoulders and neckMobility and release of the tension built up in the guard. Trunk extensions and twists that help restore the full range of movement.
  • Footwork and coreStability and balance in movement and weight transfer, engaging the deep muscles.
  • BreathBreath control to manage interval effort and support recovery between rounds.
  • A clear head under pressureConcentration and stress management before and during the fight.

The three pillars

Breath, body, mind

Breath

Breath control to manage repeated efforts and support recovery between rounds.

Body

Mobility, alignment and myofascial work for more efficient movement with less compensation.

Mind

Meditation and visualisation for concentration and for managing pre-fight stress.
